Blót to Baldur: Honoring the Beautiful God of Peace
Baldur is the beloved god of beauty, innocence, and peace. This ritual honors his light and seeks his blessing for purity, healing, and the restoration of what has been broken.
Preparation
Gather: White candles, water, milk or mead, white flowers, something to represent healing or restoration
The Ritual
1. Opening (1 minute)
“I kindle this white flame for Baldur, the Beautiful One, the beloved god of light and peace.”
2-3. Honoring Jörð & Purification (1 minute)
“Jörð, I honor the earth that holds all life. I cleanse myself of darkness and despair.”
4. Calling the Kindreds (1 minute)
“Ancestors, spirits, Shining Ones—I call upon Baldur!”
5. Invocation (2 minutes)
“Baldur, the Beautiful One! The Bright God! You whose death brought sorrow to all the Nine Worlds. I honor your light, your innocence, and your gift of beauty.
Help me see the light in darkness. Heal what has been broken in me. Guide me toward peace and renewal.”
6. Offering (1 minute)
Pour milk and speak:
“I offer you milk, white and pure. Accept this gift with my gratitude.”
7. Personal Prayer (3 minutes)
Ask Baldur for:
- Healing of wounds (physical, emotional, or spiritual)
- Restoration of what has been lost
- Purity of heart and intention
- Peace and beauty in your life
8. Closing (1 minute)
“Baldur, I thank you. Your light shines within me. So be it!”
