Blót to Forseti: Honoring Justice and Reconciliation
Forseti is the god of justice, reconciliation, and eloquent discourse. This ritual honors his gift of fair judgment and seeks his aid in resolving conflicts and finding just solutions.
Preparation
Gather: Candle, water, wine, bread, two objects to represent conflicting parties (can be as simple as two stones)
The Ritual
1. Opening (1 minute)
“I kindle this flame for Forseti, god of justice and reconciliation, the peace-maker.”
2-3. Honoring Jörð & Purification (1 minute)
“Jörð, I seek balance and justice. I cleanse myself of anger and pride.”
4. Calling the Kindreds (1 minute)
“Ancestors, spirits, Shining Ones—I call upon Forseti!”
5. Invocation (2 minutes)
“Forseti, the Just One! Reconciler of All! Son of Baldur, wise judge in whose presence all disputes find resolution. I honor your gift of fair judgment and wise counsel.
Help me find justice in this conflict. Grant me the wisdom to see all sides. Guide me toward reconciliation that serves all parties.”
6. Offering (1 minute)
Pour wine and break bread:
“I offer you wine and bread, nourishment for those who seek peace.”
7. Personal Prayer (3 minutes)
Speak about:
- Conflicts needing resolution
- Situations requiring fair judgment
- Relationships needing reconciliation
- Wisdom you seek for finding just solutions
8. Closing (1 minute)
“Forseti, I thank you. Justice and peace guide my steps. So be it!”
