Blót to Loki: Honoring the Trickster God
Loki is the trickster and shape-shifter, god of mischief, chaos, and transformation. This ritual honors his complex nature and seeks his blessing for cleverness and navigating difficult situations.
Preparation
Gather: Red/orange candle, wine or spiced mead, bread, something that represents change or paradox
The Ritual
1. Opening (1 minute)
“I kindle this flame for Loki, the Trickster, shape-shifter, god of mischief and transformation.”
2-3. Grounding & Purification (1 minute)
“Jörð, hold me steady as I honor the chaos-bringer. I cleanse myself of judgment and fear.”
4. Calling the Kindreds (1 minute)
“Ancestors, spirits, Shining Ones—I acknowledge Loki, the Bound One!”
5. Invocation (2 minutes)
“Loki, the Sky-Traveler! Shape-Shifter! You who embody paradox and creative chaos. I honor your cunning and your complex nature.
Grant me cleverness to navigate difficulties. Help me see through illusions. Teach me that chaos can create as well as destroy.”
6. Offering (1 minute)
Pour wine and speak:
“I offer you wine, heated and potent. Accept this gift and this acknowledgment.”
7. Personal Prayer (3 minutes)
Ask Loki for:
- Cleverness in solving problems
- Ability to navigate chaos
- Transformation when needed
- Understanding of paradox
8. Closing (1 minute)
“Loki, I thank you for the lessons only chaos can teach. So be it!”
