Step 2: Purification

Ritual Leader traces water over each person’s heart

As Sigyn holds steady through all trials, so do we wash away all that would weaken our own commitments. We stand firm and true in this sacred space.

Step 3: Honoring Earth Mother

All kneel and place hearts on the earth

Jörð, eternal mother, you who hold us always, you who are faithful to all your children! Sigyn learned faithfulness from you. Bless this rite with the deep steadiness of the earth itself.

Step 4: Statement of Purpose

Ritual Leader speaks with conviction

We gather to honor Sigyn, goddess of fidelity and steadfast love. We come to celebrate commitment and loyalty, to seek her blessings on all our relationships and our deepest bonds.

We seek her gifts of unwavering love, strength through adversity, and the joy of true companionship.

Step 5: (Re)Creating the Cosmos

The Fire

Ritual Leader lights fire with steady hand

From Muspelheim comes sacred flame—steady and constant, like Sigyn’s own heart. This fire burns true and does not waver. Hail to the fire!

The Well

Ritual Leader pours water with care and intention

Mimir’s Well holds all bonds and connections. Through these waters flow the threads that tie all beings together. Hail to the well!

The World Tree

Ritual Leader touches the central pole with reverence

Yggdrasil’s roots run deep and hold firm. Like Sigyn’s roots, which run deep into love and commitment. Hail to the World Tree!

The Three Worlds

Through Sigyn’s steadfast nature, all worlds remain connected. The bonds between all beings hold because of those who love faithfully.

Step 6: Opening the Gates

Ritual Leader opens arms wide in trust

Heimdallr, we call upon you! Open the gates that Sigyn may come. The faithful goddess approaches. Let the way be clear.

Step 7: Inviting the Three Kindreds

The Ancestors

Come, honored ones! You who loved faithfully, who kept your bonds strong through all trials! Come and share in our celebration of loyalty.

The Nature Spirits

Come, spirits of partnership and harmony! Come and join us in honoring the bonds that hold all things together.

The Shining Ones

Come, all the Powers! And especially you, Sigyn, goddess of steadfast love, come and know us as your devoted folk.

Step 8: Key Offerings to Sigyn

The Invitation

Sigyn! Faithful one, steady heart, goddess of love unwavering! You who stand beside those you love through all trials! Come to this rite and know the love and respect we bear for your devotion.

Praise Offerings

Ritual Leader pours wine or honey into the fire

For your steadfast love, that never wavers or turns away. For your strength in standing true even when it costs much. For your loyalty to those you have pledged yourself to. For your compassion and tenderness within your strength. For your example of love that is both deep and lasting.

Step 11: Calling for Blessings

Sigyn, we call upon your blessings! Bless our relationships with loyalty and trust. Bless our hearts with the capacity to love faithfully. Bless our commitments with strength and joy.

Grant us the courage to stand by those we love. Grant us the wisdom to choose our bonds carefully. Grant us your blessing, that we might love with the same steadfast devotion you show.

Step 12: Hallowing the Blessing

Ritual Leader marks each person’s heart with oil or water

By Sigyn’s faithfulness, may you be blessed. Her loyal heart dwells within you. Her strength surrounds your bonds. Her love flows through you.

Step 13: Affirmation of the Blessing

We accept Sigyn’s blessings this day. We pledge to love faithfully and to stand by those we choose. We pledge to honor the bonds that hold us together.

By the blessing of Sigyn, goddess of unwavering devotion, we are made faithful this day and all our days.

Community may perform workings for relationships, commitment, or strengthening bonds

Now is the time for any workings. Call upon Sigyn’s power to deepen and strengthen your intentions.

The gates are closed. The passage is sealed.

Step 17: Thanking Earth Mother

Jörð, thank you for holding this rite, for supporting all bonds and connections. We return to you what is left.

Step 18: Closing the Rite

Ritual Leader places hand over heart

The rite is complete. Sigyn’s presence settles into our bonds and relationships. Her faithfulness becomes part of us.
