Blót to Sol: Greeting the Sun Goddess
Sol is the goddess who drives the sun’s chariot across the sky each day. This quick ritual honors her constancy and seeks her blessing for clarity, warmth, and daily renewal.
Preparation
Gather: Candle (ideally gold or yellow), water, bread
The Ritual
1. Opening (1 minute)
“I greet Sol, the Sun Goddess, who brings light and warmth to the Nine Worlds each day.”
2. Purification & Opening (1 minute)
“I cleanse myself in light and water. I open to Sol’s warmth.”
3. Calling the Kindreds (1 minute)
“Ancestors, spirits, Shining Ones—I honor Sol, the Radiant One!”
4. Invocation (2 minutes)
“Sol, Bright One! You who drive the sun’s chariot across the sky each day, pursued by the wolf Skoll, yet never faltering. I honor your constancy and your courage.
Bring light to my understanding. Warm my heart with hope and joy. Guide me through this day with clarity and purpose.”
5. Offering (1 minute)
Pour water or break bread:
“I offer you bread and water, simple gifts given with gratitude.”
6. Closing (1 minute)
“Sol, I thank you for the light you bring. Blessed be my day. So be it!”
